Lesedi Kelatwang - CEO

Lesedi is CEO of Kela Securities following a diversified career that started at Bank of America Merryll Lynch where he had extensive exposure to local and offshore institutional asset managers and their inherent need to use derivatives to enhance portfolio performance. Lesedi moved on to head Delta 1 and Program Trading at Credit Suisse Securities (Johannesburg), a subsidiary of the Global Credit Suisse (AG) Group; under his leadership the entity went on to dominate market share within the South African listed futures market.

The experience gained from these large multinational investment banks helped Lesedi identify glaring structural inefficiencies that hinder product creation of alpha enhancing financial instruments. Kela Securities was founded to fill the void and is pioneering unique solutions to assist institutional asset managers better achieve their performance targets on a risk-adjusted basis. Lesedi completed his BSc in Actuarial and Financial Mathematics and BSc (Hons) in Financial Engineering at the University of Pretoria.

He is currently studying towards his MSc in Financial Engineering which will benefit from his practical experience in managing complex financial instruments as he takes on the field of Advanced Financial Mathematics.

Vincent Freemantle 2

Vincent Freemantle – CFO/COO

Vincent is a CA(SA) CSb(SA) with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and South African Institute of Stockbrokers respectively. Vincent has worked in the New Business Division and later the Settlement Authority of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

Thereafter, Vincent held the position of Risk and Compliance officer at the CSDP division of The Standard Bank of South Africa, where he qualified with both the STRATE Equities and Bonds Compliance Officers Examinations. Vincent then took on the position of Financial Officer for BoE Stockbrokers (Pty) Ltd and during this time qualified as a stockbroker and member of the South African Institute of Stockbrokers in his own right.

Vincent then took on the role of Vice President, Financial Accountant and CFO for Credit Suisse Securities (Johannesburg) (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of the global Credit Suisse (AG) group, where he performed a wide range of financial related activities within the business as well as the wider industry. Prior to joining Kela Securities (Pty) Ltd, Vincent held the position of COO at Riparian Advisory (Pty) Ltd, Advisors to The Barak Fund Management Company one of the largest private trade finance houses in Africa.

Zodwa Sithole – Compliance

Zodwa is a registered member of both the Compliance Institute of South Africa, as well as the Chartered Secretaries of South Africa. Zodwa has her professional Advance Qualification, specializing in Governance and Administration.

To-date, Zodwa has 30 years service in the Financial Services Industry in South Africa, having worked for FNB in their retail banking environment, to compliance officer in the CIB division of Citibank N.A. a member of the global Citibank Group and then compliance officer at JP Morgan Chase Bank. Zodwa then took on a role as Head of Compliance in the Sanlam Capital Markets CIB division on a contractual basis before moving to Black Lyon as head of governance, risk and compliance.

Finally, before taking on the role of compliance officer at Kela Securities, Zodwa was senior compliance officer at Liberty Finance, where she was responsible for the development and continuous review for appropriateness of a strong control framework to monitor financial crime developments impacting the business lines in LibFin and the Liberty Group. This included escalating business compliance risks that may have had implications on other Liberty Group Businesses and Functions.

Charles Rasego - Equity Sales And Trading

Charles is an equity sales and trading professional with 4 years’ experience in financial markets. Prior to joining Kela Securities, Charles spent 3 years with JP Morgan Chase bank in equity sales and sales trading roles, servicing local and foreign clients with research and investment ideas. Before JP Morgan Chase Bank he was an equity sales graduate at Citibank N.A.

Charles completed his BSc in Mathematics and Statistics at the University of South Africa and BSc (Hons) in Financial Engineering at the University of Pretoria and is about to pursue an MSc in Financial Engineering.

Kuda Kadungure - Head of Research

Kuda is a seasoned Equity Research Analyst with over 14 years’ experience analysing and marketing listed African equities, especially across Breweries, FMCG and TMT sectors.

Before coming to head Kela Securities’ equity research department, Kuda was at Investec Securities, where he was the lead analyst on Sub Sahara African (SSA) Breweries and Telecoms, including fintech and tower leasing companies. He achieved a Tier 1 rating as a Telecoms analyst and was also instrumental in securing Investec Securities’ participation on both Helios Towers Nigeria and IHS Towers IPO efforts.

Prior to that Kuda was with Imara SP Reid’s African securities team, achieving Top 5 rankings for coverage of SSA Breweries and FMCG sectors in the 2014 Euromoney Africa Survey for Best Research Houses in SSA. Before that Kuda was at Securities Africa Ltd and then LiquidAfrica (Pty) Ltd, both pioneering pan-African stockbrokers.

Having achieved top ratings across several sectors, and from both local and foreign institutional investors, Kuda brings a wealth of experience, relationships and quality to Kela Securities’ research offering. Kuda holds a B.Soc.Sci Politics, Philosophy & Economics and B.Com (Honours) in Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management, both from the University of Cape Town.

Noleen Botha - (Administration)

Noleen has been in the industry for 20 years dealing with front, middle and back-office administration in which she has gained an in-depth understanding for all matters Operations and Settlement related.

Prior to joining Ijubane and Kela Securities (Pty) Ltd, she was with Finsettle Services for 7 years, then with BJM Securities / Rencap Securities for 13 years gaining valuable exposure to both local and foreign clients.

Noleen enjoys challenges and prides herself on her efficiency and operations/ settlement problem solving skills.

Lincoln O’Shea - (SBIC & Business Development Officer)

Lincoln is a qualified stockbroker who holds a Bcomm Economics Degree. He started his career at Standard bank in 1994 where he moved to the stockbroking division. He then went on to work for various companies as a trader and sales trader.

His achievements Include his appointment as Head of Transition at Brockhouse Cooper, having started the division working with the Montreal branch.

He has extensive experience in transition management. He has been involved in completing several South African and multi country and currency transitions valued at a total of R33 billion.
